This product is a subscription-based online Project Management software application. It is designed for individual independent contractors or small to medium size businesses to give them a cost effective solution for managing their projects with the flexibility to collaborate online with other project participants. This is especially convenient for virtual offices where the team members are scattered throughout the country, or the world. It is also a great tool for organizations who hire off-shore contractors. Off-shore contractors themselves could find this application to be a selling point because of its ability to intuitively display detailed status of the project to customers who may be located several time zones away from them.

As with any web application, this product has the advantage of not requiring any software installation - all that is needed is a web browser. If you travel, you do not have to bring your own computer in order to keep track of or update your projects. Project data is backed up daily, but there is an option for you to download your project data in XML format. Besides being an additional backup local to you, this file can be used to feed project data into your own internal applications.

Protecting the privacy of individuals or organizations who may be storing sensitive information in their projects, the application is run under Secure Sockets Layer using a VeriSign certificate.

Projects are organized in a hierarchical tree by project owners, which are your customers. Under each project owner are the projects for that customer. Under each project are the tasks, web links, and any documents that you or your team members have uploaded. Tasks can be linked by dependencies on other tasks.

This application is designed to give you the flexibility to allow others to update your projects while still retaining tight control over them. You may assign granular permissions for your users for viewing and editing the various components of your projects. However only you can update your project record, and only you can add another component below it. For your users, updating of tasks is limited to the data that details progress on the task. You may assign hourly rates to tasks so that you or your users can log hours while logging progress on the task to capture cost information, which is rolled up in your project and user reports.

Although this application is geared toward tracking hourly work, it is possible to track tasks with a fixed cost. You can do this by entering the fixed cost in the hourly rate, and then entering 1 hour on your first task log and 0 hours on the remaining task logs.

For those who prefer to keep their customers' identity confidential, there is an option on the project owner item to keep this information from being displayed to your users. For the project owner record, your users will see the word Confidential.
